What brands do you buy?
Current young-adult brands in good condition. Heavy hitters: Lululemon, Vuori, Alo, Nike, Madewell, Free People, Anthropologie, Aritzia, Levi's, Patagonia, Reformation. We focus on items that have been in style within the last 12-18 months. If a brand isn't on this list, bring it anyway — the buyer is the final word.
What condition do clothes need to be in?
Clean, freshly laundered, no stains, no holes, no excessive pilling. Tags optional but appreciated. Athletic wear should still have stretch. Shoes should have clean soles. If you wouldn't wear it once more in public, we probably won't buy it.
Do I need an appointment?
No. Walk in any time during business hours. Mon-Sat 10 AM-9 PM, Sun 11 AM-6 PM. Busiest hours are weekends and 5-7 PM weekdays — drop off in the morning for faster turnaround.
How much will you pay me for my clothes?
We pay 30-50% of our resale price, in cash, the same day. For example, a Lululemon top we'd resell at $22 might earn you $8-11. Total payouts range from $5 for a small bag to $200+ for a curated, in-demand haul. You see the full itemized quote before you accept.
How do I prep my clothes to sell?
Three minutes of prep doubles your payout: wash everything, fold neatly into a tote or bag, remove items you wouldn't buy from a thrift store yourself, and put shoes/accessories in a separate bag. Bring up to two bags at a time.
Do you buy in summer / off-season?
Yes, year-round. We buy ahead of season — sweaters and jackets sell best August-November, denim and outerwear October-February, tees and shorts March-July. Off-season items get a slightly lower offer, but we still buy.
Can I bring kids' clothes or men's clothes?
Plato's Closet specializes in young adult / teen apparel. For children's clothing, check Once Upon A Child. We do buy men's clothing — bring it. Athletic, denim, outerwear, and streetwear move best.
